Mr. Stephen A. Brandon - 2025

Raised on a family farm near Helena, Arkansas, Steve Brandon attended MSU on an academic scholarship, earning dual bachelor's degrees in plant pathology and weed science in 1972, and a master's degree in weed science in 1973. As a student, he was recognized for leadership and scholarship through membership in Omicron Delta Kappa, Blue Key, and Gamma Beta Phi.

After graduating, Brandon returned to Helena to work in his family agribusiness, where he managed the agricultural supply center. Seven years later, he became the U.S. representative for a French energy technology company, launching an international chapter of his career. He later joined Westinghouse, working with electric utilities nationwide to plan and implement power plant generating projects.

Brandon later accepted an equity position with SPEC Group, a science and engineering staffing firm serving the energy and construction sectors. SPEC Group ultimately merged with TMP Worldwide, where Brandon served as senior vice president of international operations, overseeing global growth across hundreds of offices in more than 30 countries, including the company's interactive subsidiary, Monster.com. He retired in 2002 but continues to consult on organizational management.

Steve and his wife, Patsy Fowlkes, live in Chattanooga, Tennessee and are dedicated supporters of MSU. A CALS alumni power couple, Patsy Fowlkes was recognized as a 2018 Distinguished Alumna Fellow for the former Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology and Plant Pathology.
