Mr. Craig Shideler - 2025

Craig Shideler, who earned an agricultural economics bachelor's degree in 1977, built a distinguished career in agricultural finance spanning over four decades. He retired in 2022 as chief executive officer of Mississippi Land Bank after 44 years of service within the Farm Credit System.

Shideler began his career in Batesville, Mississippi, with the Farmers Home Administration as an emergency loan officer before joining the Federal Land Association of Tupelo as a loan officer. In 1979, he was hired by the Federal Land Bank Association of Senatobia, where he advanced quickly to chief executive officer in 1982. He later served as regional vice president overseeing North Mississippi Farm Credit operations before being appointed chief credit officer of Mississippi Land Bank in 1990, managing lending across 32 counties. Shideler assumed the role of CEO, leading the association through sustained growth to nearly $1 billion in assets.

Shideler credits MSU, particularly the agricultural economics department and his involvement in Kappa Sigma fraternity, with preparing him for professional success through mentorship and high expectations. Committed to paying it forward, he has supported internships, leadership development, and community engagement throughout his career.

Shideler and his wife, Calvert, an MSU-trained CPA, established a scholarship to support students who need an extra opportunity to succeed. They are proud parents of three MSU graduates and hopeful future Bulldogs among their twelve grandchildren.
