Mr. Abbott R. Myers - 2025
Abbott Ransom Myers is a third generation MSU agricultural graduate, continuing a family legacy that began more than a century ago. His grandfather, M.P. Myers, class of 1915, served as president of the Lee Guard, and his grandmother, Mattie Bell, was the Lee Guard sweetheart that same year. His father, Ransom Myers, graduated from Mississippi State in 1943 before serving in the U.S. Army in Europe.
After graduating in 1972, Abbott Myers established his farming operation in Tunica County. Today, the family owns and operates 8,500 acres producing rice, corn, and soybeans, reflecting a commitment to agriculture grounded in both tradition and innovation.
Myers has been actively involved in agricultural organizations across the state, including Mississippi Land Bank. He also played a key role in promoting and organizing Delta Wind Farm, Mississippi's first commercial electricity-generating wind project and home to some of the tallest land-based wind towers in the United States, producing 184.5 megawatts of power.
Mississippi State provided Myers with a strong foundation in agriculture and business, shaped by faculty mentors and sustained through decades of MSU Extension Service support. For more than 50 years, the university's research, outreach, and innovation have remained essential to his success and to the future of Mississippi agriculture.
