The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Mississippi State University is exploding with innovation, discoveries and research. Every student who enters our college has an abundance of opportunity at his or her fingertips. With 16 majors including a joint Biological Engineering major with the Bagley College of Engineering and areas covering disciplines such as agriculture, business, science, design, and sociology, we have a home for everyone. Our undergraduate student body totals over 1,000 students, and we offer many clubs and organizations for new students to get involved such as the CALS Ambassadors, a 29 member student leadership group that works with recruiting, alumni, and current students. In addition to the Ambassadors, we have over 30 more clubs for students to join.
Every spring students are encouraged to apply for scholarships through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and our 10 departments. Our awarded scholarships total over $270,000. Although Mississippi State University's tuition is relatively low compared to other universities nationwide, we understand that every bit of financial assistance is helpful.
With 15 buildings housing all of our departments, North Farm and South Farm, our learning facilities are vast and wide. In fall 2007 we will be unveiling our new state of the art Agricultural and Biological Engineering building. Also around the corner is the renovation of the Lloyd Ricks Building which we are proud to say is one of the oldest buildings on campus and is listed on the historic registry. With so many high tech laboratories, lecture halls, and classrooms your educational experience is sure to be an enjoyable one.
We are most proud of our sense of family within, and we are happy to say that we offer small college charm within a large university here in CALS. Every one of our departments provides one on one advising sessions each semester to ensure that you are on track and headed down the right path toward graduation. Our faculty and staff are available to you to offer advice, tips, and encouragement.
Most importantly we want you to find a major in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences that will allow you to Step Up and Stand Out in all areas of your life !
