Sandra Guzmán is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. She is from Bogotá Colombia.

"I grew up in the capital of Colombia, but my family is from a small farming town outside of the city. We'd visit the farm on holidays and that was wonderful for me because I actually preferred the countryside, but educational opportunities are better in Bogota. When I learned about the sustainable irrigation research being conducted by MSU, I fell in love. It's important, you know. This research can help my family in Colombia, it can help farmers in Mississippi and it can help anyone, anywhere struggling with having enough water for crops. This research can save the world. That's why I'm here."
